Things To Do

We have a Tour Book that we would be happy to send you via email. It lists numerous day trips, including sunset cruises, snorkeling excursions, and more. It's packed with ideas to help you make the most of your time on the island.

Additionally, if you're feeling adventurous, we can also share some hidden gems off the beaten track.

Shopping

Don't expect department stores and hypermarkets; instead, enjoy the experience of shopping in the local Zanzibar style! In the food markets and Western-style shops, the prices are fixed, but everywhere else, you need to haggle! We suggest aiming for a 50% reduction from their opening price. A smile and feigning shock at their initial offer will normally yield great results.

Getting Around

We can arrange taxis for you with our trusted drivers who can take you anywhere on the island and wait and return for reasonable prices. We can also arrange hire cars & scooters that are an ideal way to explore and great fun too! If you want to experience the full colour of local life, the buses (Dala Dala's) run all over the island regularly and are incredibly cheap. But allow plenty of time to reach your destination! Bus map on next page just for you. They can be hailed at any point on all main roads and normally display the final destination on the front/side.

BEACHES

The Best Beaches

Jambiani Beach

This beach stretches for miles and often the sea here displays amazing colours. There are hundreds of bars & restaurants along its palm-fringed shoreline. Its great if you fancy a long stroll but many areas are inaccessible during high tide.

Bwejuu Beach

A gloriously peaceful white sand beach that stretches for miles and its only 20 seconds away from us. The perfect place to relax and to witness stunning sunrises each morning. If you turn right you can walk into Paje in 20 minutes and if you like a big walk, you can go onwards all the way to Jambiani!

Pa je Beach

Paje is a bustling resort and normally the skies are full of the kite surfers that come from all corners of the world to make use of the perfect sea & wind conditions here. Enjoy a few drinks whilst watching the action and meeting the Masai that ply their trade on the beach.

M tende Beach

Not only is the beach itself gorgeous, but there are two bar/restaurants located either end of the beach that offer a great vantage point for looking at the sea and the beach below. Time your visit when the tide is low so you can fully explore this place.

Pi ngwe Beach (Michamvi)

This is a wonderful beach that is home to the famous Rock Restaurant (online booking required) and one of our favourite places to eat & drink. There are many great restaurants here including Baladin (famous for its imported craft beers) and Upendo.

Kae Beach, Michamvi (Sunset Beach)

We recommend 3 places here, depending on your mood Kae Funk beach bar is a lively place that has free beach beds, music, dancing, acrobats and a bonfire on the beach. Kikoi Restaurant has a terrace perfect for a meal (try their curry!) and for watching the sunset. Mangrove bar is more chilled and our favourite.
